HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– It’s officially winter and the germs are having a blast. Many students all over Hutchinson have skipped school because they were sick.
Germs love changing seasons, which is exactly when they strike. If you pay attention to the attendance in your class, you might notice that some people are absent for stretches of time. A few kids might only be out for a couple of days, while others could be absent for up to a whole week!
“My experience being sick is that I’ve been out for five days. The reason why I was out for five days was because I had the flu. It felt horrible!” TV recalls.
“If you have a fever for under 24 hours, then stay home, because mostly, if you don’t follow the rules, you could get other people sick,” RM says.
A lot of kids get sick near or during winter break, and no one wants to be sick for the holidays! If you think one of your classmates are becoming sick or recovering from an illness, try to keep your hands to yourself, wash them daily, and if they cough or sneeze, face the other way quickly so that you don’t breathe in their germs.
“Kids should wash their hands a lot and wear their coats outside when it’s cold,” VC advises.
