HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– 5th graders are now doing a project on books from the “regarding” series by Kate Klise. These books are made out of letters, postcards, memos, faxes and more. Each 5th grade student is assigned a job. The group will design a poster depending on their job.
The types of jobs possible are Sleuth, Play on Words, Timeline, or a Travel tracker. The Sleuth has to take notes while reading to figure out the solution to the problem or the mystery of the story. The Play on Words have to find word-like names. Some characters have silly names like Mr. Sam N., which sounds like salmon. The Timeline keeps track of where the characters are going, since the characters like to travel a lot around the world.
MY says, “I really enjoyed the books. The plot is very interesting, and I also had a fun time creating the projects!”
“The book ‘Regarding the Fountain’ was really good. There were a lot of red herrings that I didn’t notice until the end. Overall the book is a must-read. As for the projects, they are super fun,” ERO says.
Once we get “into” the book, we start a project, like designing a poster. Each poster is different, depending on the group’s job. For some posters, the job doesn’t matter. It mostly depends on the teacher. Different teachers have different ideas for the posters, like drawing the character.
These books by Kate Klise are full of fun, funny, entertaining and hilarious. To those who love to read, solve mysteries, and drama, this series is just for you.
