Hutchinson Specials

Hutchinson Specials

HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– Gym, Art, Library and Music are our specials. Gym is run by Coach Thompson. Art is run by Mrs. Taveras. Library is run by Mrs. Falvey and Mrs. Sullivan.  Music is run by Mr. Vamos.

Every class has a different schedule. Your class might go to Gym on Day 4, but your friend might go to Music on Day 4. There is one special a day for each class. You might like some specials and hate others.

Gym, as you might have guessed, is in the gym. Coach Thompson is very nice and always has a new game for you to play. When you get to 4th grade, you get to climb the ropes. When you get to 5th grade, there are different seasons. One is for volleyball, next is basketball, and finally there is soccer season. That is what happens in gym.

In Art, there are many beautiful art pieces Mrs. Tavares teaches us how to make.  Some examples are clay sculptures, paintings, and even staple projects. There are art galas that show all the art that students have been working on.  Mrs. Tavares even does an enrichment class for 4th and 5th graders, where you get to help paint murals around the school and paint the stools in the art room.

Courtney Valente said, “I like Gym and Art because Art really helps me get creative, and Gym helps me get exercise while having fun.”

Chloe Castro said, “I like Art because even though the rest of my class doesn’t take it as seriously as I do, it’s like my resting time.”

In Library, you read interesting books and learn about how to find books in the library, and how to use glossaries and indexes, to name a few. Library has a lot of fun things to do.

The last special is Music. Mr. Vamos teaches his students many songs and tells them many stories that teach about the different parts of music. When you get to 4th and 5th grades, you also do Chorus. In Chorus, you learn different songs and do a performance for your parents.

These are all the specials at Hutchinson school. They are here every day, and the specials teachers don’t have just one class a year…they have 18 classes a year!
