5th Grade End of the Year Field Trip: ...And the Ropes Course Wins!

HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– This year, instead of going to Philadelphia, 5th graders had a vote on what trip they want to go on. The choices were: A Broadway show, a team-building ropes course, and the New Jersey Science Center. The Ropes Course won!

Mrs. Fitzgerald committed some of her time to making a detailed slideshow to present to us for the end of the year field trip. Then, she gave us voting slips. We checked off the field trip that we wanted after that. Everybody knew that whatever won would still be fun, even if it was not the vote they chose, because of our wonderful choices.

SL states, “I think that it was a cool idea to have the kids vote instead of doing the same thing every year.”

NS comments, “I think it is cool how they changed it up, and I know my brother would be jealous because he did not get to choose the field trip.”

Ms. Buzin says, “I think it is meaningful for the students because they get to select the choice they want for the trip.”

Everybody in 5th grade chose the trip they wanted, and if the Broadway show had won, we would probably have had another vote on which show to see. The shows we could have picked from were: Sponge Bob Square Pants, Anastasia, or School of Rock.

Many people will cherish this field trip as an experience.
