PELHAM, NY– As you know, the Hutchinson School 5th graders are moving up to the Pelham Middle School. The 5th graders are enjoying their last 2 weeks of their elementary school chapter.
To make the 5th grade feel a little more high-spirited, the 5th graders have lots of fun activities planned. To kick it off, on Wednesday, June 4th, Field Day will be at Glover Field in Mt. Vernon. Then the next day, 5th Grade has D.A.R.E. graduation at the Pelham High School Auditorium. The 5th graders catch a break, but then are back at it on Monday the 9th, when the 5th graders will be taking a tour of the Pelham Middle School.
On Friday the 13th, two very special things will be happening. At 2pm, a ballroom dance demonstration will take place in the gym at Hutchinson School. Later that night, the 5th graders will be partying it out because at 6 o’clock is the dinner dance. The dance will be at Mulino’s Lake Isle. On June 16th, graduation or the moving-up ceremony will happen at the Pelham Middle School on Franklin Field. The 5th graders get to have a day on the field on June 18th. The day after that, the whole school will be closed for Juneteenth. On June 23rd, in the afternoon it is game day! You can bring a game to play with your friends. Then the last day of elementary school for the 5th graders will be on the 24th of June.
Now to get to the reason why these 5th graders are special. In 2020, the year when COVID was at its worst, these 5th graders had just started kindergarten. These kindergarteners were hit with something they had never heard of. But look at them now, they are as good as ever! In middle school these 5th graders will learn how to channel their skills and emotions into new activities and classes. Let’s wish these 5th graders good luck for their years ahead!
