Immigrants/Ellis Island

NEW YORK CITY–On Wednesday, June 6th, 2019, the 4th grade went to Ellis Island!

The 4th grade took a bus to Manhattan, New York City, then took a boat. First they stopped at Liberty Island, then stopped at Ellis Island. They had 45 minutes (because the bus was late) to explore Ellis Island with parents. They should have had 2 hours.

“I went on a boat and the boat was wobbly. We passed the Statue of Liberty. That was my favorite part,” JW replied.

“It was amazing because on the boat, you got a feel for what it felt like to be an immigrant,” stated SB.

“My favorite part was when we got to be on the boat,” MB claimed.

On Friday, June 7th, each class in the 4th grade pretended to be an immigrant in a movie. It took place in the 4th and 5th grade hallway. Then, the person directing the movie put the movie together. It will be back around the last day of school.

The field trip was really fun for many people. Many people would like to go again. Many people also thought the movie was fun.

People who go into 4th grade next, have lots of fun and good luck! (Hopefully the bus won’t be late for you!)
