Ballroom Dancing

HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– Students in 5th grade first learn how to ballroom dance through lessons, and then put on a show for the school and parents.

The 5th graders are learning the Cha-Cha, the Jive, the Samba, and the Rumba.  The Cha-Cha and the Rumba are from Cuba, the Samba is from Brazil, and the Jive started in America.

“My favorite ballroom dance is the Cha-Cha because I like doing the New Yorker step,” TS commented.

“I think ballroom dancing is a fun time to dance,” SP shared.

The 5th graders have ballroom dancing lessons every Thursday and Friday.  These lessons are taught by Mr. Delyan and Ms. Boriana.  These lessons take place in the music room.

“I like how all the students have a chance to dance with each other and work hard on smiling, making good eye contact, and holding good posture,” Ms. Buzin explained.
