The Aztec, Inca, and Maya Ancient Civilizations
THE FIFTH GRADE CLASSES OF HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– Recently the fifth graders started a unit on the ancient civilizations.
Each student learned about each civilization and then picked one civilization to really dig deep and research on.
“When I was in 5th grade, I loved doing the project and the research,” GP commented.
“I think it was cool how the ancient civilizations used to make instruments,” MP shared.
“I learned that the Maya empire did not fall like the Aztec or Incas, but were taken down one city at a time,” JS explained.
After doing some research, the fifth graders started a project on this topic. Each student would have to write an essay on that civilization and create 3-5 artifacts used during that civilizations time. Also on Tuesday, February 5th, the fifth graders are going to the ancient civilizations exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History.
If you are in fifth grade, have fun learning about ancient civilizations. Even if you aren’t in fifth grade, this is a very interesting topic to research!
