Journeys Into the American Indian Territory
HUTCHINSON SCHOOL–The fourth graders recently had an in-house field trip from Journeys into the American Indian Territory. Also, the trip connects to what the fourth graders have been learning in Social Studies.
First the fourth graders watched a video about how the Indians used their natural resources and how the children lived. They played games to teach life lessons, and they listened to stories to learn about American Indian history.
“My favorite part was when we got to play the American Indian games,” N.S. reported.
“I learned they used many types of dice,” R.N. added.
Then the fourth graders did a mini “museum” to show the American Indians lived, and the fourth graders played Grand Council. The fourth graders did a craft to learn that American Indians made pottery to hold water.
“I think its a wonderful job, I get to do something I love every day, and I get to share something I believe is important!” M.C. shared.
