NATIONWIDE– Thanksgiving is a fun holiday. You get to see family and friends and eat plenty of delicious food.
Thanksgiving is a great holiday for people to be thankful for what you have, whether it’s food, family or even the fact that you’re alive. Who came up with Thanksgiving and why?
Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday on October 3, 1863. However, the first Thanksgiving was a three-day harvest in 1621.
JN says, “The food’s the best part. I think that the food on Thanksgiving is the best, because I love my mom’s cooking and we usually have people over.”
CV added, “Since my mom is the only one that really cooks, I really love her green bean casserole.”
LS shared, “My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is you get to see people, and play games, and just have fun.”
The first Thanksgiving included 50 Pilgrims, 90 Wampanoag and 52 Englishmen. Historians believe that only 5 women were present.
“I like Thanksgiving because you get to see family and cousins that you normally don’t get to see,” says GAF.
