Poetry Unit
HUTCHINSON SCHOOL– 4th grade has started a new writing unit: Poetry!
Poetry is a freestyle type of writing. You don’t need punctuation. You can rhyme, make a shape, and much more! Here’s an example: The sky is blue The grass is green There ares no clouds in the sky Nobody is being mean
People have different opinions about poetry. Some people love poetry, some people hate poetry, some people like poetry, and some people don’t know.
“I don’t like poetry. I think it’s kind of boring,” RJ replies.
“In class 5H, we’re going to choose songs and turn them into poems and then share them with the class,” KS explains. “I think it’s fun.”
If you ever have a chance, do poetry! You may not like one type of poetry, but you might like another. Once you get to know poetry, you’ll probably really like it!
